Situated in 250 acres of landscaped grounds near Wimborne, Dorset, Canford is among the top coeducational boarding schools in the UK. The school roll is the highest in its history, with 640 pupils aged 13-18 years, of whom 70% are boarders. Academic results have been recognised as a leader nationally in recent years - among the top 5 co-educational boarding schools at A level (The Daily Telegraph) and among the top 50 at A*/A (www.best-schools.co.uk). 86% of leavers moved on to Russell Group, Top 15 and Ivy League universities this year, with 57 places gained at Oxbridge over the past five.

As the Good Schools Guide points out 'A very special school and one that can easily hold its own with the most popular in the country ... results are as good as other co-ed schools with illustrious names. With its first-rate teaching, stunning setting and innovative ideas, Canford is definitely at the top of its game.' The school was recently awarded runner up 'Public School of the Year' by Tatler and 'Best for Setting' by The Week. As a relatively young school, founded 1923, Canford blends tradition with forward-thinking. The Grade 1 listed manor house is complemented by a range of exceptional modern buildings including a sports centre, theatre, Real Tennis court and boathouse.

Canford combines academic achievement with a diverse co-curricular programme embracing intellectual, cultural and performing arts opportunities with extensive sporting, outward bound and other physical activities. The environment encourages participation, hard work and a strong sense of community and integrity. All pupils are expected to engage with the wide range of educational and personal development experiences.. Success is evident outside the classroom as well as within it, including GB rowers, England Hockey players, county rugby and hockey championship teams and ABRSM diploma achievers. Importance is placed on educating pupils to challenge themselves and to appreciate the coherence between and connections across their learning in a wide range of contexts.

Canford is under two hours from London and 1 hour 30 minutes' drive from the M25/M4 junction. An exeat coach service runs to Richmond/SW1. Pre-selection in Year 7, scholarships at 13+ and 16+, with means-tested bursaries worth up to 100% of fees.
