Beechwood Sacred Heart School
Beechwood is a fully co-educational day and boarding school of 400 pupils, comprising a Nursery and Preparatory School (age 3- 11) and Senior School (age 11-18) all located on the same site, with around 55 pupils being boarders (age 11-18). The school is located in a large campus overlooking open countryside, close to Tunbridge Wells town centre, 50 minutes by train from London.
Boarding at Beechwood
Following the recent refurbishment and re-structuring of our boys' and girls' boarding houses, we are delighted to provide a high standard of accommodation in comfortable, modern rooms. Younger pupils share 2 or 3-bedded rooms, with senior pupils having single study bedrooms.
Full or weekly boarding is offered, and flexi-boarding for occasional nights may be available. Supervised study and after school activities keep everyone busy, cared for by enthusiastic, experienced staff. There are 50 clubs and activities taking place at lunchtimes and after school. Some are help clubs for pupils needing extra support, others may be sports, drama, choir, chess, electronics or many more. At weekends, the boarders enjoy a varied programme of outings and workshops, tailor-made to their interests.
Students always comment on our welcoming atmosphere and how easy it is to settle in and make friends at Beechwood.
Beechwood encourages high standards and values - honesty, respect and consideration for others, derived from its Catholic tradition, while welcoming pupils of all religions. Pupils are expected to work hard and do their best, to be supportive of others and helpful to their teachers.

Focus on Excellence
At Beechwood we have pupils with a wide range of academic abilities and aptitudes. In our small classes we provide teaching that facilitates learning and inspires our pupils to explore new ideas so that they achieve their full potential. A unique cognitive development programme, developed by our Head, focuses on higher order thinking skills; it encourages independent thinking, a more positive approach to problem solving and better habits of learning – essential skills for university and success in the world of work.
Over 20 GCSE courses and 24 A-level courses are offered at Beechwood. Our classes are small – up to 18, with fewer in optional subjects and at A-level.
Our A-level results vary depending on the particular individuals in our Sixth Form. We have often appeared in the top 5-10% of all schools nationwide; our leavers gain places on a wide range of courses in Higher Education, with our top students entering the best universities. Our top student in 2014 gained 2 A* and 3A grades at A-level and she has accepted a place at Warwick University to study Economics.
