International School of London (ISL) Schools

Education Reimagined. From Early Years purposeful play in the out-of-doors to authentic real world community engagement projects in secondary, the ISL UK Schools in London and Surrey provide a culture of innovation which enables each student to develop his or her own path.

International Baccalaureate and Mother Tongue Languages. Mother tongue language literacy is an integral part of the ISL International Baccalaureate (IB) curriculum with students from Kindergarten through Grade 12 offered four to seven lessons per week depending on their grade level. Non-English speaking students are given support through Intensive English or English as an Additional Language (EAL), depending on student need. Mother tongue English students begin language acquisition classes in the Primary, allowing them to develop fluency in their new language(s).

Intensive English Foundation Programme. For secondary students needing a stronger foundation of academic English, the ISL London Diploma College offers a one-year English language foundation programme which prepares students for the IB Diploma or other education in English.

Founded in 1972, ISL London is a coeducational independent school for students age 3 to 18. An International Baccalaureate (IB) World School, ISL London is authorised to offer the Primary Years (PYP) and Middle Years (MYP) and Diploma Programmes (DP). An early adopter of the IB Diploma, ISL London graduated its first IB Diploma students in 1978. ISL students consistently achieve over world averages in the pass rates, average diploma scores, and the number of bilingual diplomas achieved.

Situated in Chiswick, west London, the Lower and Middle School purpose-built campus has been substantially renovated and expanded to house the auditorium and gymnasium, library, science laboratories, kitchen, dining hall, classrooms and multi-purpose rooms. Adjacent to Ealing Common, the IB Diploma College is situated in a newly renovated and expanded Edwardian building near Ealing Common tube station. Regular shuttles transport students and teachers between the two campuses.

Enrolling students from 23 countries and teaching 19 languages, ISL Surrey is a coeducational independent school for students from age 2 to 18. An IB World school, ISL Surrey is authorised for the Middle Years and Diploma programmes. For primary students, the school is accredited by the International Primary Curriculum and is the only school worldwide to have achieved a third accreditation, achieving the highest level, Mastering. The school's exceptional student-teacher ratios permit a great deal of individual attention. All classes are individualised, allowing teachers to build on student passions. Mathematics master classes allow students to explore maths in an engineering context. Multi-lingual digital storytelling classes foster interdisciplinary projects. In partnership with universities, whether for a bilingual film festival, language research or as part of the Middle Years research institute, learning extends beyond the classroom to applications in real world contexts.

The school is situated on a 10.3-acre campus. Its purpose built facilities are being substantially expanded with the construction of an environmentally-sustainable, three-storey, 7,000 square metre addition. The new building will include a new language centre, expanded library and teaching spaces, secondary science labs, art and technology classrooms, a dark room and kiln, materials technology, music and practice rooms, common rooms, a 150-seat drama studio, kitchen and dining room, gym and fitness suite, recording studio and additional secondary teaching classrooms.
