Slindon College

Established in 1946. Slindon is an independent boarding and day school providing specialist learning support for approximately 100 boys Aged 8-18. We offer a carefully structured and tailored education for students who cannot thrive in a mainstream environment. There is a staff:pupil ratio of 1:5 and one-to-one support can be provided for those who need it. We are acknowledged as a Centre of Excellence for students requiring significant support in a number of areas such as ADHD, DYSLEXIA, DYSPRAXIA, but the majority of students are diagnosed with ASD. However, Slindon does not admit students with severe autism or those officially diagnosed with emotional and behavioural difficulties.

Our staff are highly trained with in-house Speech and Language Therapy and Occupational Therapy. There is a very large and strong team of Learning Support Assistants to complement and support the teaching regime. Our aim is provide our students with strategies to compensate for the constraints that their condition imposes upon them, promoting our students' positive abilities in a life skills context and, at the same time, maximising their academic potential. Slindon has a thriving Sixth Form where the academic pathway is not set in stone but is tailored to the needs of each individual. This approach speaks for itself with 100% of our Sixth Form students achieve A*- C at A level or other level three courses.

There is a purpose built and bespoke primary department that operates within the school
site but is autonomous, with the school day being different to that of Key Stage 3 & 4.

Slindon offers a number of hands-on courses to examination level and these include food technology, photography, graphics, textiles, motor mechanics, engineering and horticulture. A wide and varied extra-curricular programme encourages the pursuit of drama, outdoor activities and sport, and these activities run at lunchtimes and at the end of the teaching day.

The College enjoys a rural setting at the foot of the South Downs in Slindon National Park , an area of outstanding natural beauty. We enjoy unobstructed views to the south coast and on a clear and sunny day views as far as the Isle of Wight! Our very rural setting enables us to host a variety of animals within our small farmyard area, including, ducks and chickens, pigs, donkeys and alpacas. We are still, however, just an hour and half from central London.
