  Town setting

Located in a picturesque British village, this flourishing boarding and day school offers an exceptionally rounded education for pupils aged 3 to 18. Originally established in 1875, this was one of the very first Woodard Schools.

The safe haven of Abbots Bromley allows our students to grow up in beautiful natural surroundings, but at the same time we are never too far from locations where the pupils may benefit from cultural and intellectual experiences. Nottingham, Birmingham, Worcester, Leicester and Leeds are within easy driving distance, allowing us to benefit from our location at the heart of the UK.

For students wishing to join us from overseas, three airports lie in close proximity (East Midlands, Birmingham and Manchester), whilst the fast rail link to London from Lichfield allows us to easily access our capital city within an hour and a quarter.

Preparatory School

Our Preparatory School is a happy, busy place. Here we educate boys and girls from Kindergarten to Year 6. This co-educational school nestles within the main school site and offers access to a range of facilities including an ICT suite, dance studio, science laboratory, food technology unit and a new EYFS outdoor play area. An impressive enrichment programme has been developed for pupils both in and outside the classroom.

Senior School

We welcomed boys into the Sixth Form in September 2015 and will accept boys in to Year 7 from September 2017. We will be completely co-ed by 2020. A new boys' boarding house was opened in the AB International College within the grounds. Whilst pupils are expected to work hard and focus carefully on their academic studies, at the same time they are encouraged to take advantage of the numerous activities and opportunities which make the School distinctive.

AB International College

Abbots Bromley International College (ABIC) opened in September 2015 and offers international students a unique opportunity to experience a traditional English boarding school education. This one year Intensive Course enables students to study at least 5 GCSEs and gain the English skills needed to fully access A Level courses.

Beyond the curriculum

As well as offering traditional academic subjects to A-level, we also cater for girls who wish to take alternative career routes. They may take a variety of qualifications to a high level in riding, dance and musical theatre without jeopardising any future career plans, by being able to study these alongside their core academic subjects.

Our internationally respected dance school ‘Alkins School of Dance’ offers dance and musical theatre classes for all levels. The Vocational Dance Course allows students to extend their studies to a professional level and our experienced staff includes former international ballerinas and a Director of Dance with many years’ experience as an examiner with the Royal Academy of Dance.

We are lucky to have our own Equestrian Centre on-site which boasts superb facilities including a floodlit outdoor ménage, indoor school and stabling and offers opportunities for both the beginner and the experienced rider. Our facilities mean that students can either bring their own ponies or ride one of the School’s own and study for the British Horse Society (BHS) qualifications under the tutelage of our highly qualified instructors.

Music and sport are also key features within the School. Opportunities for musicians are varied, with all students encouraged to participate. On an individual level, pupils can join our highly acclaimed choirs, orchestra and band or learn an individual instrument. Our experienced and specialist team of musicians ensure pupils’ varied talents are explored and encouraged.

We offer excellent sporting facilities for budding athletes, such as our sports hall that includes a fitness suite, an all-weather hockey pitch and a heated indoor swimming pool.

With specially trained teachers, high academic standards and an extensive range of modern facilities within the Preparatory and Senior Schools, we offer an unrivalled range of opportunities to inspire and enjoy.

Home from home…

As a full boarding school, our boarding house affords a high degree of pastoral care and we know that students learn better and thrive in our friendly, family environment. Boarding offers advantages for girls to develop their independence and gain confidence in their own abilities whilst being supported by understanding staff. We have a variety of options for students: full boarding, weekly, flexi and occasional packages are available to suit every parent’s requirements.

Our ambition is to offer more and ensure our students become poised, articulate, confident, and self-assured in order to learn, live and lead our global society of the future.

Abbots Bromley is delighted to offer a variety of scholarships each year in academic, sport, art, music, and equestrian for our more able students, enabling them to further challenge themselves at every opportunity.
