The English School of Kyrenia (ESK) is a purpose‑built modern IB World School offering exciting opportunities for academic excellence and personal development for boys and girls aged 3 to 18. An enviable and spacious learning environment, the school is set in the inspiring surroundings of the Kyrenia foothills, overlooking the Mediterranean to the front and the Kyrenia mountains to the rear.
For the current 2015‑16 academic year, ESK has 890 day students drawn from both international and local backgrounds. In September 2015, ESK opened a modern boarding house and welcomed its first intake of boarders.
The sections of the school are Early Years (Nursery age 3 and Reception age 4), Primary (Year 1 – Year 6) and Secondary (Year 7 – Year 13). After IGCSEs in Year 11, Students can select between the IB Diploma Programme or A levels for their final two years of study. ESK has a proud record of sending graduates to top tier universities in the UK, Europe and USA.
Our world‑class boarding house is situated on the school campus and is able to house 44 young people and resident staff of high calibre. The rooms are divided into two separate wings, one for girls and one for boys, and each room has a double vantage, with views of both the sea and beautiful mountains. Every detail has been painstakingly thought through to maximise the quality of provision for our youngsters.
It is of crucial importance to us that our boarders really feel that they are within a home away from home, with excellent pastoral care surrounding them as they grow to be self‑reliant. When families visit Northern Cyprus, whether on holiday or to work, they frequently comment on the friendly and adoptive nature of the island community. Northern Cyprus is stable, dynamic, with excellent weather and a healthy diet and way of life. Our boarding provision has been designed using experience of great boarding schools from throughout the world.
