Whitgift School

A Whitgift education is unique; we offer a wider range of qualifications than any other British school, including International Baccalaureate, A Level and BTEC. We also have a bilingual section for native French speakers. Exchanges, visits and scholarship programmes are in place with more than 25 countries worldwide. Whitgift is regularly ranked amongst the country's top schools for achievement; new records are regularly set. The School offers generous scholarships, bursaries and other awards.

Exceptional pastoral care is at the foundation of our provision, and each pupil, and his parents, are guaranteed a friendly face to turn to for advice and guidance.

Whitgift's record in sport is outstanding and at the forefront of achievement nationally, with more than 100 national sports titles won in the past five years. Over 40 sports are available at Whitgift, including all the major team games of rugby, hockey, football and cricket. Many boys represent their country in a wide variety of sports, or go on to pursue a career at the highest level.

Following on from Britain's cycling success at the Olympics, the School has recently launched a cycling initiative that aims to increase participation and enthusiasm for one of Team GB's flagship sports. A dedicated area of our £9m Sports and Conference Centre has been set aside for high-tech bikes and turbo trainers.

An exciting Performing Arts programme is offered by the School, with musicals and plays performed both in London and abroad. Orchestras and choirs tour regularly and perform at major venues, including the Royal Albert Hall, the Royal Festival Hall, Cadogan Hall, Goodwood House and the Royal Pavilion, Brighton. The School enjoys a close link with the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, enabling pupils to learn from, and perform with, professional musicians.

Co-curricular activities at Whitgift feature more than 80 clubs and societies, as diverse as the Investment Society, Animal Club, Astronomy, Italian Drama, Green Team and the Sequential Art Club. In addition, Outdoor Education – offering sailing, wakeboarding, skiing, mountain biking and more – introduces boys to new and exciting activities. The School also gives boys the chance to enter into the Duke of Edinburgh Award scheme, highly regarded by admissions tutors and employers alike. Furthermore, Whitgift has a well-established Combined Cadet Force, containing elements of all three services - Army, RAF and Royal Navy - and one of the oldest Corps of Drums in the country.

The School's new, state-of-the-art Boarding House, offering full, weekly and flexi-boarding to boys aged 13-18, gives students a unique opportunity to develop even further, through wider access to all the School's facilities, thus ensuring they are exceptionally well-equipped for life after Whitgift.
