Dr. Sarah Wynick, Consultant Child Psychiatrist, & Laverne Antrobus, Consultant Child and Educational Psychologist, discuss providing support for your changing child, learning to cope and nurturing achievement.

Dr. Sarah Wynick 

Consultant Child Psychiatrist at the Tavistock Centre in London, where she had previously trained and where she has worked for most of the last two decades.  She is Head of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry and Manager of its Family Mental Health Team. She trained in psychotherapy with children and adolescents at the Tavistock Clinic and now runs the United Kingdom’s only course for child psychiatrists in psychodynamic psychotherapy, accredited by the British Psychoanalytic Council. She is an experienced E.M.D.R. practitioner who uses trauma-focused techniques in her work, alongside her psychoanalytical framework.  She also qualified as a couple psychoanalytic psychotherapist from the Tavistock Centre for Couple Relationships.  She has a further interest in group psychotherapy, in family work, and in organisational consultancy.  She has recently trained in the “Parents as Partners” model and runs groups for parental couples as well as having a private couple therapy practise with the Balint Consultancy.

Laverne Antrobus

Consultant Child and Educational Psychologist. For over 20 years Laverne has worked with children and families in the most need of help and is passionate about helping children to achieve their potential and grow into confident adults. Having trained at the prestigious Tavistock Clinic in London she then worked in Local Authorities and currently within the NHS in the Family Mental Health Team at the Tavistock Clinic.

Laverne is a clinical supervisor on the Doctorate in Child Community and Educational Psychology at the Tavistock working to train the next generation of psychologists.

Laverne appears on popular daytime broadcasts and is often asked to give a psychological perspective on issues that affect children and their families in both radio and print media.  She has made programmes on childhood for the BBC and currently appears on the CBeebies Grownups website.
